WHB #150: Arugula and fresh figs
It's quite a busy week and I'm the hostess of Weekend Herb Blogging - THE weekly event created by Kalyn - too. So I had to be something quick and easy for the event but with fresh ingredients from my garden of course. I decided to go with arugula and figs.
Eruca sativa, also known as arugula or rocket, is an edible plant. It is used as a leaf vegetable, which looks like a longer leaved and open lettuce. It is rich in vitamin C and potassium[9]. It is frequently cultivated, although domestication cannot be considered complete. It has been grown in the Mediterranean area since Roman times, and was considered an aphrodisiac. Before the 1990s it was usually collected in the wild and was not cultivated on a large scale or researched scientifically. source

2 fresh figs
Dressing of your choice I made the following:
2 tb white vinegar
1 ts mayonnaise
1 ts mustard
1 dash of Worcestershire sauce (what a tongue twister!)
1 dash Tabasco
salt and pepper
1 tb walnut oil
Wash arugula and figs. Slice figs. Mix all the ingredients for the dressing. Before serving mix arugula, figs and dressing.

The peppery taste of arugula goes wonderful with the sweet figs.
