Summer BBQ Challenge - Pitta bread
Lex Culinaria opend the Summer Barbeque Challenge and is asking for some new BBQ-recipes. It's true, I'm also preparing always more or less the same BBQ dishes. So this was the first time I was baking pitta bread on the grill. It's delicious and quickly done!
Pitta bread
makes 4 pitta
150 g wholemeal flour
1/4 ts salt
some fresh herbs (like oregano, thyme, cilantro), chopped
1 ts dry yeast
1 1/5 tb yogurt
1/2 tb olive oil
~0,5 dl lukewarm water
Mix all ingredients and knead until the dough is soft and elastic (about 5 to 10 minutes). Let rise the dough in a greased bowl, covered thightly with platic wrap, until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour).
Divide the dough into 4 pieces. Flatten the pieces and strech carefully to a diameter of about 10 cm. Let them rise again 30 minutes. Place them on the hot grill. Bake until the dough is browned, about 3 minutes each side. Take it away from heat and let themgrchill another 6 minutes on lower heat.

Serve with grilled vegetable or/and meat, home made hummus and orange chutney .
